The 3DREAMS project explores the effects of surface heterogeneities on aerosol retrieval. For that purpose, a series of 5 synthetic scenes featuring various sorts of surface heterogeneity (spatial variability of surface reflective properties and topography) were created, based on actual locations of Earth. Eradiate was used to create synthetic satellite images that reproduce acquisitions in the style of the POLDER instrument, suitable for inversion using the GRASP retrieval algorithm.
